CAAS Standards Revision Committee – Call for Volunteers

The Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) is an independent, not for profit accrediting organization that exists to encourage and promote the highest standards for medical transportation systems. CAAS is now preparing to review and revise the existing CAAS Accreditation Standards and is seeking applications from individuals willing to participate on the CAAS Standards Revision Committee.

The objective of the CAAS Standards Revision Committee is to review the existing CAAS Accreditation Standards Version 3.0, and to develop proposed revisions or additions to the standards as necessary. Current plans anticipate the CAAS Standards Revision Committee shall meet approximately once per month beginning this spring, with the objective of producing a final draft for initial public comment within twelve months. Most of these meetings will be conducted via webinar and/or teleconference. However, one or more in-person meetings may be required. All efforts will be made to keep any in-person meetings to single day events, and may be held at various locations around the country, with consideration for ease and cost of travel. Attendees must cover their own expenses and commit to active participation for the duration of the revision process.

Membership on the Standards Revision Committee and voting representation will be comprised of a balanced group of individuals selected based upon areas of experience and expertise as pertaining to the CAAS standards and the EMS industry and shall not be conditional upon membership in any affiliated group, nor unreasonably restricted on the basis of technical qualifications or other such requirements. Participation is open to any materially and affected interested party. Members shall represent the broad interests of the ambulance medical transportation industry. No interest category shall constitute more than one-third of the CAAS Standards Revision Committee membership to provide balance in the CAAS Standards Revision Committee. Participation on the CAAS Standards Revision Committee may therefore be limited in certain interest categories based on CAAS Standards Revision Committee membership applications received. However, any materially effected parties are welcome to attend, as all meetings will be publicized and will be open to anyone who would like to attend.

If you are interested in participating, please fill out the online application form below, no later than 5 PM (CDT) March 16, 2018 (deadline extended). Please be as detailed as possible to help us develop a balanced and experienced committee.

Additional information including a list of the committee members, meeting dates and locations will be posted on the CAAS website.
