The Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) Announces New Board Appointment
Jon M. Howell, CEO, Huntsville Emergency Medical Services, Inc., of Huntsville, Alabama, has been named to the CAAS Board of Directors, replacing Troy Hogue, Area Manager, Rural/Metro, Syracuse, New York, as a representative of the American Ambulance Association.
February 1, 2005 - Jon M. Howell, CEO, Huntsville Emergency Medical Services, Inc., of Huntsville, Alabama, has been named to the CAAS Board of Directors, replacing Troy Hogue, Area Manager, Rural/Metro, Syracuse, New York, as a representative of the American Ambulance Association.
Jon began his EMS career as a dispatcher at Huntsville EMS, Inc. (HEMSI) in 1984 where he also served as field paramedic/EMT until 1991, Urban Responder Coordinator (1991-1993), Assistant Director (1993-1998), Assistant Director of Finance (1998-2001), assuming his role as CEO of the organization in 2001. Jon earned his BS degree in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Alabama, Huntsville. He also completed the Accelerated Ambulance Service Management Academy of the American Ambulance Association Management Training Institute. Jon is active in his church, serving as Deacon Chair and building committee member. He is treasurer of the School’s Foundation Board of Directors and is a past board member of the local chapter of the American Heart Association.
At their January 15th meeting in Naples, Florida, the CAAS Board honored Troy Hogue’s four years of service and his role in writing the first major revision of the CAAS Standards, published in 2000, with a crystal award that reads, "Presented to Troy Hogue with sincere appreciation for your invaluable support and dedicated efforts in shaping the ‘gold standards of excellence’ in the ambulance industry."
