Doctor's Ambulance Makes a Difference
Doctor’s Ambulance, working in association with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America assisted in granting a wish for a special young lady Samantha Bly for a day at the Disneyland Resort.
Doctor's Ambulance greeted their special patient on the flight line at John Wayne Airport with hand selected EMT's and our Specialty Care Transport Unit. Two Emergency Nurses, two Flight Nurses one Doctor and family members accompanied our patient during her wish granting. After a short trip to the park our 'package' was securely delivered right to the front gates of Disneyland.
After proper check-in with the Disney officials our crew went on stand-by at our headquarters while she had a fun filled day at the Disneyland Resort. Later in the day our crew transported our special patient back to the airport for her flight home.
Doctor's Ambulance Donates Laptop to Disabled Family of 12
Doctor’s Ambulance in Laguna Hills donated a new Dell laptop to a family that has 11 disabled children, a blind father and one mother with a very kind and open heart. Through the California Exchange Clubs, Doctor's Ambulance learned of this family that was brought together by a husband and wife who has 11 foster children with various disabilities.
The story of ‘Sarah’ was brought to Doctor's Ambulance through their association with the Exchange Club. Shirley Lashmett a fellow Exchangite shared the story of ‘Sarah’ and how she came to know her. ‘Sarah’ is a bright, sweet little nine year old was born with Cerebral Palsy and cannot speak, walk, or feed herself. Unfortunately, ‘Sarah’ had come to be seen as only a terrible burden by her own parents, and they made the decision to find her another home. Due to Sherry’s commitment, she was able to find a family home in Pennsylvania which is dedicated to helping handicapped children.
With her relocation, ‘Sarah’ would be required to relinquish her Dynavox, which belonged to her school district. This device, which allows a handicapped person with minimal control of her hands to communicate in spoken words, is ‘Sarah’s’ only means of letting her thoughts and needs become known to those around her. She would need to have one of these virtually immediately – and they cost several thousand dollars. A call out to Exchange members produced over $8,000 to purchase the Dynavox for ‘Sarah’. In addition, Doctor’s Ambulance donated a laptop with wireless capability to assist ‘Sarah’s’ new family in managing the database of eleven disabled children. Kay Kearney, Vice President of Business/Community Relation said ‘this is what Exchange clubs are about, assisting others when they have a need. Everyone in the community should be in the Exchange Club, Doctor's Ambulance is proud to be a member”.
The story has a happy ending – ‘Sarah’ is thriving in her new family and those in our area who came to know and love her, now receive regular updates about her life and on going progress.
